Latitude 35.8167 North: Malta (35 degrees 49 min)

Rosedale's latitude is 35.8167 (35 degrees 49 minutes) South. In October 2019 we travelled to Malta, and went as close to the Latitude 35.8167 North as we could - standing on a cliff looking at the Blue Grotto.

The sea was a bit rough, and there were high winds, so the boat trips to the Blue Grotto entrance weren't running.  The malta.com photo must have been taken at the same spot.

Tranquil Bay Beach at South Rosedale is a hidden gem. You have to walk to it along a bush track - no car access.

Grassfire near Mogo

When you live in the country, bushfire is an ever-present possibility (along with drought and flood). This small grassfire had more smoke than flame.

June Theme day: Me (at Rosedale "spa")

There is a spot at Rosedale Beach where, when the tide is right, a natural rock formation forms a "spa". Here I am enjoying it! 

You sit in there, and the water  effervesces around and over you. 

Moth

This moth was attached to the screen on my window this morning. Having a good rest, I think, as I prodded it gently and it didn't stir. After dark I checked and it had disappeared.

A beautiful, autumn day looking out towards Burrewarra Point. 

Burrawang seeds

Burrawang 'palms' are native cycads native to this area. They grow profusely under the spotted gums. You are not allowed, obviously, to dig them up, but I managed to gather some seeds.

I am going to try to germinate them, though am told it can take up to two years! Then they grow pretty slowly. Still, I am going to give it a go. Lots of land for them to grow on.
