For many decades people have accessed Nun's Beach via a track which passes through private property. The property, 'The Retreat' was owned by the Catholic Church, and they tolerated people using it, as long as they did not create any disturbance. The sale of the property saw the new owners exercise their rights and bar people from use.
This created a problem for the users of Nun's Beach (mostly locals). The only other access is via the sharp rocks around the headland towards the main beach at Rosedale, or a steep and slippery "goat track".
A new set of stairs has now been built above the "goat track". It was funded by contributions from the Rosedale Association Inc, generous locals, and the Shire Council, who provided the workforce.
